Artist Bio

Norman Rockwell was born in New York City on February 3, 1894. He began painting at age sixteen, and by his mid-twenties he was one of the most popular, successful and instantly recognizable illustrators in the world. During his career, he created 321 paintings that appeared as cover illustrations for the SATURDAY EVENING POST. By 1978, at the height of his popularity, and the year of his death, forty books and 140 articles chronicling Rockwell's art and accomplishments had been written and published in over 50 publications world-wide. Today, Rockwell's art and memory lives on in the Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA. As time passes, appreciation for Rockwell's fine art has only increased, and prices for "anything Rockwell" continue to escalate as collectors seek to acquire examples of this truest of American artists.
