This is Texas State Artist Jack White's great portrait of Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson. Joaquin spent almost 30 years riding the river of the rugged Big Bend country, watching over Texas. A classic portrait of a true Texas legend. This is the essence of Texas.

Artist Bio

Jack White is a native of Brady, Texas and began his career as a portrait and landscape painter in the late 1960s after visiting his first art gallery. For his colorful landscapes, he uses the double primary palette technique. He is also known for his colorful Texas wit and humor.

Jack is a self-taught artist and writer, with a number of published books. This fifth generation Texan, whose family roots are tied strongly to the early days when the state was a republic, is a graduate of Howard Payne University. In 1976 he was selected as the Official Texas State Artist.

Jack's work can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian, Lyndon B.Johnson Museum, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, The Governor Dolph Briscoe Collection and numerous other public and prominent private collections world-wide.
