Artist Bio

An impressionist oil painter of scenes of the Old West, Robert Pummill was inspired by the work of Frederic Remington, N.C. Wyeth, and John Singer Sargent as well as the Dutch Old Masters and the French Impressionists.

Robert was born and raised in Ohio. He took his first art course when he was eleven and continued his interest in art throughout the nine years he spent in the U.S. Air Force . While stationed in Montana during his military service, he developed an interest in Western landscapes.

Like millions of other aspiring American artists, Pummill's art education included correspondence courses from the Famous Artists School. Later, while working as a commercial artist, he studied at the Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles. In 1968, he moved to Texas where he worked as an illustrator for Vaught Aeronautics, and in 1977, he became a full-time artist at age forty one.

Today, Robert Pummill is a highly acclaimed and widely collected Western artist. He still lives and paints in the Texas Hill Country.
